Policies and Procedures During COVID-19

How I’m Protecting You

Blackbird Blessings is a solo establishment which means there are no other massage therapists or other personnel using the treatment room. There is less traffic than a multi-practitioner office. The waiting area and bathroom is a shared space between Blackbird and one other business.

Blackbird Blessing is By Appointment Only, either scheduled online or by phone. No walk-in appointments are taken.

Conversation will be limited during the treatment. We will stay 6 feet apart to discuss your medical history and needs for that day’s treatment.

Clients are scheduled 30-60 minutes apart so the treatment room can be properly sanitized and ventilated. Unless the weather doesn’t permit it, all of the treatment room windows will be open during the treatment to allow for proper ventilation.

Practitioner hygiene includes disinfecting hands and forearms thoroughly before and after each session and changing shirts for each session. Gloves will not be worn unless you have a pathology that requires the use of gloves.

Every client gets a brand new table set up with sheets, face cradle cover (with tented pillow case to catch airborne particles while face down), hand towels to cover hair, and blankets.

All tools used (i.e. cups, hot stones, hot towels, crystals, heat packs) will be properly cleaned and disinfected for each client.

The treatment room, table, chairs, doorknobs, all touched surfaces are disinfected at the end of the day along with the shared bathroom.

I will be wearing a mask when you arrive, to conduct the pre-treament interview, and while you are face up on the table. It may be removed while you are face down on the table.

How You Will Protect Me and Other Blackbird Clients

All NEW clients (*clients I’ve never met before) scheduling online will be required to answer a COVID-19 screening. They will also be contacted within 24 hours of scheduling their appointment for a pre-treatment telephone screening asking preliminary medical information, reasons for seeking treatment in order to cut down on the time spent in office.

ALL clients will be contacted the morning of their appointment via text for a pre-appointment screening asking if you:

a. Have any symptoms of COVID-19 or fever of 100.4 degrees F or higher.

b. Have had any close contact with someone who is suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

c. Traveled in the past 14 days either internationally or or outside of the state, or on public transportation.

Anyone with any COVID-19 symptoms, those who report close contact with someone suspected or confirmed with COVID-19, or those reporting travel risk factors will be rescheduled after 14 days have passed, but that is up to my discretion.

When you arrive, please stay in your car until you receive a text alerting you to enter. Please go straight into the bathroom to wash your hands prior to entering the treatment room.

When possible, I will email you a medical history form to complete before arriving for your appointment. You will also sign an informed consent form about the risks of infection. You will also re-attest that no new symptoms have developed and that no new travel or close contact to a person with COVID-19 has occurred in the interim since the pre-visit telephone screening.

Clients are required to wear a face covering over both the mouth and nose upon entering Blackbird and must be worn while lying face up, but may be taken off when face down. If you do not have a face covering, I will provide one to you.

We will refrain from unnecessary physical contact (e.g. shaking hands, hugging).

If you or a family member is feeling ill, stay home! You will not be charged a cancellation fee or lose your 50% deposit if you call/text me to let me know.

If you have any questions or concerns about the policies and procedures, don’t hesitate to contact me. Call or text 508-982-8433 or email blackbirdblessings3@gmail.com
